- Uruguayan Spanish - also known as Rioplatense Spanish or Rioplatense Castilian. A variety of Spanish spoken in Uruguay. [1] [2]
- English - used in the business world.
- Uruguayan Portuguese - also known as Fronteiriço and Riverense and Portunhol. Spoken by 3% to 15% of the population. Second most spoken language in the country.
- Patois - considered a dead language
- Uruguayan Sign Language is recognized as an official language.
