Ton was first mentioned as Tunno in a document relating to the possessions of the monastery of the canons regular of San Michele all'Adige, dating back to 1174.

Major events:

The Guerra Rustica (Peasants' War) in 1525, where the peasants of Ton participated in the uprising against the Austrian authorities.
The construction of the Forte Rocchetta in the 19th century by the Austrian military, although it was never involved in any major battles.
The destruction of the Forte Rocchetta by an accidental explosion in the early 20th century.
The creation of the Biotopo La Rocchetta, a natural reserve, in 1992.
The construction of the Consorzio Ortofrutticolo Bassa Anaunia (COBA) warehouse in Raut in the 20th century.
