Temple, Maine at Wikipedia
The area of Franklin County was first settled in 1796. In 1803 Temple was incorporated as a town from Abbotsville Plantation, also known as Number One Plantation which was created from Township Number One Abbot's Purchase (T1 AP) prior to 1803.[1] [2] [3]
Temple annexed land from part of Wilton in 1831.[4]
When Temple became a town in 1803 it was originally in Kennebec County by a declaration of 1805, but was set off to Franklin County in 1839.[2]
