Template talk:Portal/US/State
I have removed the category using the pagename variable from this page. By using the page name variable for categorization, it will spam the category list by creating a category for every page using the template. Please see our guidelines at How to categorize an article. - Good plan!. The category worked b/c New York was a category, but probably would not have worked. I have removed the direct article link too, since that was 'magic' for New York. If we had a good naming system for these, we could add them back in, possibly with some regex to make them more readable. Thanks The Earl 14:37, 11 March 2008 (MDT)
- I agree with removing the magic link as well. Ultimately, the magic link would cycle back to the portal page itself due to the use of a redirect. As you are aware, there is a page titled New York, and a page titled New York. We intend for the portal page to be the "home page" for New York, a gateway so to speak. The plain New York page was imported from our old site and contained very little content. I have implemented a redirect to point the New York page to the New York page. Now when users search for New York, they are automatically directed to the portal. This is the case with other states and countries as the portals are built and populated. At this time, we are only building portals for countries and states due to the lack of content on the county level. Molliewog 14:55, 11 March 2008 (MDT)
