This is a documentation subpage for Template:Discussion Conventions (see that page for the template itself).
It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template has been designed to be placed at the top of user talk pages or any article talk page.

Note: In the preview above there will also be a blue box outline containing the link "Start a New Talk Topic". It will only display on the "talk page" and will be located just above the maroon lettering.

The notice requests that users follow the following conventions

post new messages at the bottom of the page
sign your comments
use section headings to separate conversation topics

It also provides links to the following guidelines/policy

When added to a user talk page, it will also display a prominent link to Start a new talk topic
