The 53rd Kentucky Infantry was organized at Paris, Kentucky in the winter of 1864 and spring 1865. It participated in many skirmishes and in the battles of Clinch River, Marion and Saltville, Virginia, in all of which it performed its duty to the entire satisfaction of the commanding General.
