The chapel of Lincoln's Inn Fields was mostly used as a Roman Catholic place of worship. Because of this, its history is a rather tempestuous one.
The chapel of Lincoln's Inn Fields, St Anselm and Cecilia built some time by about 1688 was converted to a Roman Catholic place of worship for the embassadors and their respective entourages to Portugal and later, Sardinia until to at least the year 1858.<ref>'Lincoln's Inn Fields: The Church of SS.
