This table can help you decide which records to search.In column 1, find what you need to know (your goal). In column 2, find the types of records that are most likely to have the information you need. Then turn to that section of this outline. In column 3, find additional records that may be useful. When you know the record type you need, look for it in the Family History Library Catalog in the Locality section. Records containing previous research (genealogy, biography, history, periodicals, and societies) could provide information for almost every category listed. These have not been included in the list unless they are especially helpful for the goal.
