On the 9th July, 1864, the 10th had a severe engagement on the north bank of the Chattahoochee River, engaging single-handed and alone, a brigade of the enemy and holding them in check until reinforcements arrived. The 10th performed its whole duty and has at times maintained the proud reputation of its State. It mustered out out of the U.S. service at Louisville, Kentucky, December 6th,1864. <ref>Kentucky. The 10th Regiment, Kentucky Infantry was organized at Lebanon, Kentucky, November 21, 1861. Attached to 2nd Brigade, Army of Ohio, to December, 1861. 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, Army of Ohio, to September, 1862. 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 3rd Corps, Army of Ohio, to November, 1862. 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division (Centre), 14th Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland, to January, 1863. 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, 14th Army Corps, to October, 1863. 3rd Brigade, 3rd Division, 14th Army Corps, to December, 1864. The regiment moved to Ringgold, Georgia, thence to Chattanooga, Tennessee, and duty there until November. It was ordered to Kentucky November 14.
