The 14th Kentucky Cavalry was organized in the fall of 1862, under Colonel H.C. Lilly. Companies A, B, C, and D. were mustered in on the 6th day of November, 1862, at Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, by Captain S. E. Nuell. Companies E. F. G. H. I. J. K. L. and M. were mustered in at Irvine, Kentucky, on the 13th of February, 1863.
