A portion of the Regiment was mustered into the U.S. service on the 17th day of November, 1862, at Owensboro, Kentucky, by W. B. Royall, Captain 5th Cavalry; the remainder of the regiment was mustered in at Munfordsville, Kentucky, February 12th , 1863, by Captain T.E. Noell.<br>
