:The Aims of the Society are to promote the study of genealogy and family history and to educate the public therein by holding meetings, sharing information, encouraging research, giving assistance and producing publications for the public benefit.

:The Society's charitable purpose is the advancement of education and culture in the fields of the arts, heritage and science. To promote, encourage, foster and coordinate the study of archaeology, history, genealogy, customs and traditions with special reference to the County of Cumbria which now includes the historic counties of Cumberland and Westmorland and Lancashire North of the Sands and the Sedbergh district of Yorkshire.  Affiliated groups are the Carlisle Affiliated Group, the Kendal Historical & Archaeological Society, the Penrith Affiliated Group, and the South West Cumbria Historical & Archaeological Society.

:The Cumbria Family History Society was founded to help members carry out their genealogy researches and our area of interest is the modern county of Cumbria, which is the old counties of Cumberland and Westmorland and a part of Northern Lancashire and North Yorkshire.

:CIHS was formed in 1985 by members of the Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society with a particular interest in industrial history.

:DVLHG was formed in the early 1990s and runs a programme of activities and talks for its members. Our five year long study of the whole valley has restarted extending the survey to cover areas not walked in earlier phases. Our findings led to our current major project with Oxford Archaeology North excavating three medieval longhouse sites near Seathwaite Tarn.

:Hartlepool Family History Group is a branch of the [https://clevelandfhs.org.uk Cleveland Family History Society]. We hold nine monthly meetings in Hartlepool each year, excluding July, August and December. We invite speakers to talk about a range of family, social and local history topics.  At our meetings there will always be someone who can give any advice you may need while tracing your family. You do not need to have Hartlepool ancestry, most of us have families from all points around the country but enjoy coming to our meetings and joining the Society.

:The Society concentrates on the local parishes of South Lakeland (Cumbria), including Holme, Burton, Beetham, Hutton Roof, Heversham, Lupton, Milnthorpe, and Preston Patrick.  From the beginning we have collected photographs, maps and books about our local area for our library.  As the collection expanded with donations from members and non-members we started an archive section, now divided between two archivists: (1) Holme and (2) Burton & the district.

:The Hunter Archaeological Society studies and reports on the archaeology, history and architecture of South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.

:Priories Historical Society was formed in June 2000 with the intention of bringing a wide variety of talks to the public. We are predominantly interested in the history and archaeology of the local area which covers Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire.

:A friendly discussion group for those with Family History interests in and around the Sedgefield area of County Durham. It is a branch of the [http://clevelandfhs.org.uk Cleveland Family History Society].We welcome people from across the world with an interest in the northern part of North Yorkshire and the southern part of County Durham (before the boundary changes of 1974). It is also a group for people resident in the Sedgefield and surrounding area that have taken up researching their Family History and wish share their interests with other like minded people.

:The aims of the Society laid down in 1893 were to promote the study of the history and literature of early Methodism, research into the Wesley's, and investigation into the beginnings and development of Methodism.  The Society aims to encourage an informed interest in the life and work of John and Charles Wesley, in Methodist history in general, in chapels and their architecture, and in the broader patterns of English religious history, especially in the counties of Northumberland, Durham and Cleveland.  Area: Durham, Northumberland, and The North Riding.

:The group meets for talks and study of Acomb's history. Photographs and records of the old Acomb families are available along with school and community memorabilia.

:In 2019 Wharfedale FHG merged with the Keighley and District FHS.  If your roots are in the Airedale and Wharfedale area or further afield you will find help and encouragement in this fascinating hobby by joining the Airedale and Wharfedale Family History Society.

:The Society was founded in 1957 to record and preserve the history of Aireborough, which consists of Yeadon, Guiseley, Rawdon, Carlton, Hawksworth, and the area which was covered by Menston Hospital.

:The Group's objective is to creat a History Archive readily accessible to all and have regular formal and informal meetings to stimulate interest in the history of the Appleton-le-Moors and its people.  We are willing to look up information for individuals researching their Family History.  Community and domestic history are of particular interest, many of the records such as Census Records, Church Registers and School Log Book  and some Diarys are searchable.

:As a group, we continue to research the history of the parish of Aston-cum-Aughton, recording memories and investigating records held in local libraries and archives.  

:This is a long established society with the specific aim of supporting the family historian who wishes to research Barnsley and the surrounding area family history.  We offer access to databases of names and places collected from a variety of sources including parish records, census returns, electoral registers, local newspapers, military lists, non-conformist sources, maps and wills, etc.

:The Society takes a special interest in the region centred on Barnsley, extending from Thurnscoe and Goldthorpe in the East, to Dunford Bridge and Penistone in the West, and from Darton in the North, to Wortley in the South. This area includes the ancient parishes of Cawthorne, Darfield, Darton, Felkirk, High Hoyland, Hoyland Nether, Monk Bretton, Penistone, Royston, Silkstone (formerly included Barnsley), Tankersley, Worsbrough, and Wortley, these forming a part of the Archdeaconry of Doncaster.

:The Barwick in Elmet Historical Society is devoted to the recording, research and publication of the history of this Yorkshire parish.  

:BAHS is an active archaeology and history society, founded in 1999, covering Bedale and the surrounding area.

:The Society was formed in 1996 to record, investigate and promote an awareness of Bilton's heritage and future, to unravel the secrets of Bilton’s past, its people, buildings, railways, industry, the royal hunting park and a lost way of life.

:Bingley and District Local History Society was founded in 1988 by a group of local enthusiasts whose interest in Bingley’s history had been stimulated on a local history course run by Dr Gary Firth. The society’s main aims are to disseminate Bingley’s history and provide information in the form of talks, books and DVDs which will widen the local population’s knowledge of the history of the Bingley area which was once known as ‘The Throstle’s Nest of England’.  

:Our aim is to research, record and preserve the history of Bishopthorpe and, where possible, publish the results.  

:Bolsterstone Archaeology and Heritage Group is a community group dedicated to exploring all aspects of our past, through archaeology, history, or in whatever way we can. We are an eclectic group of diverse backgrounds, with interests ranging far and wide. We are open to all times and places, but with our main focus on the heritage of Bolsterstone, the surrounding hills and valleys, and the region of South Yorkshire.  

:In 1988, a small group of local residents joined together to form the Boothferry Family and Local History Group.  Their initial work was researching about families and documenting family trees, this was soon followed by an interest in local history.

:We organise monthly talks and visits, meeting throughout the year for a range of activities including archaeological fieldwork, excavations, archaeobotany and experimental archaeology.

:Bradfield Historical Society holds monthly meetings and now specialise in talks and research about the Sheffield Flood of 1864.The Society takes part in other local events held in the area such as Craft Fairs, Galas, Environment events etc. In 1997 a third volume of Bygones of Bradfield was published. This and other books are available through the Society.

:The Bradford Historical and Antiquarian Society is the oldest local history group in the district, having held its formal inauguration meeting on the 12th July 1878.

:The aims of the Group are to promote the knowledge learned by research, to the wider audience of Brinsworth & Catcliffe. To share this information to the younger generation by visiting local schools. To record this information for years to come. Many of the elderly residents have recorded their life stories and they are in the archives at Brinsworth Comprehensive School.

:The Broomhill Local History Group was formed in 1988 to record and research the history of the "prettiest suburb in England". As part of this research each house has been "re-inhabited" from the time it was built up to 1940. This has been done from census returns, rate books, directories, electoral rolls and other miscellaneous sources. Since people living as lodgers are not usually given in directories, nor are there entries for working class inhabitants, it is not a complete record. There is a Iist of more than 11,500 heads of households, with addresses and dates as well as additional information on many of them - that may be of help to you in tracing your ancestors.

:The Cawood Castle Garth Group wish to raise awareness of the rich natural and built history of the area, which is the site of a medieval castle, the former palace of the Archbishop of York.

:Our aim is to bring together local people who share the same interest and to provide a point of contact for those members who, although not living in the area, have their roots within the modern Archdeaconry. The Society covers the modern Archdeaconry of York which stretches from Coxwold, Hovingham and Sherburn in Harfordlythe in the North to Ledsham, Birkin, Selby and Drax in the South.  As well as from Bramham, Bilton and Sherburn in Elmet in the West to Huggate and Bubwith in the East.  The Society’s area overlaps parishes covered in the West by the Yorkshire Archaeological Society and in the East by The East Yorkshire Family History Society.

:Exploring the history of the Scarcroft, Clementhorpe, and South Bank areas of York.

:The Cleveland Industrial Archaeology Society began life in 1965 as the Teesside Industrial Archaeology Group.  We believe that the industrial history of the north east and Yorkshire is important and we work for its preservation.

:This group is about the history of the two villages of Conisbrough and Denaby Main and the people who have lived here.

:Chronicling the history of two unique villages, Conisbrough and Denaby Main, the site contains over 5000 pages and 2000 pictures and is growing daily.

:The Object of the Society is to provide a common meeting ground for the study and discussion of, and research into, history in general, and of the local area in particular.  The Society is creating a database of local historical knowledge for present and future use.

:To promote a wider understanding and knowledge of local history and to preserve and store any historical information for the benefit of present and future generations. This will include the collection, categorising, archiving and displaying of materials which are considered to be part of the heritage of Cudworth.

:The Group aims to collect or copy and record items such as photographs, deeds, brochures, advertisements, postcards, maps and bits & bobs that relate to the history of Cudworth.  

:The Society was formed twelve years ago by like minded people who wished to encourage an interest in our local history.  Dinnington and its surrounding areas has a fascinating tapestry of many layers including its people and events that go back many thousands of years to the present.

:The Society's objectives are to provide a forum for members to meet and discuss the study of family history and genealogy, to produce a journal regularly; to arrange a programme of lectures, visits and other activities connected with subjects of interest to the Society; to seek out, transcribe, index and wherever possible publish or make available material relevant to the interests of the Society; and to provide guidance in family history research and study to those living elsewhere whose families come from the area.

:Dore Oral History Group is linked with Dore Village Society. The group aims to collect the recorded memories of people living and/or working in Dore throughout the 20th and early 21st Centuries.

:The Society aims to foster the protection and enhancement of the local environment and amenities within Dore, to encourage a spirit of community and to record its historic development.

:The village of Dringhouses has a history going back 2,000 years. The Dringhouses Local History Group (DLHG) was formed in February 2005 by local residents to recall and explore how the village has developed and how it continues to change.

:The Society was formed in 1997 and exists to research and promote knowledge of the past through lectures and displays. In addition, the Society also runs the East Leeds Heritage Centre at Cross Gates Library, where regular displays and exhibitions take place.

:The East Riding Archaeological Society has aims to promote interest in archaeology, both in the local area and further a field, through a programme of lectures, excursions, publications and fieldwork.

:The East Yorkshire Local History Society exists to promote and encourage the study of local history in East Yorkshire.

:We regret that due to the large number of requests we have been receiving we are no longer able to help with family history matters.

:We are a group of people interested in the history and heritage of the Fishergate/Fulford Road, Fulford Village and Heslington village districts in the south east of the City of York, UK.

:The Society had its origin in a series of informal and exploratory meetings held at irregular intervals during 1953. Those present came finally to the common mind that a Society should be brought into existence with the object of pursuing the study of local history and doing what such a Society could to interest local people in the appreciation and preservation of our historical treasures and heritage both tangible and intangible.

:A local history group for residents of Gleadless Valley to find out more about their community and its history.  

:The Great Ayton History Society researches and records information on the local history in the parishes of Great and Little Ayton. This information is made available to a wider audience through public presentations and exhibitions, guided walks, and publications.  Great Ayton is the boyhood home of Captain James Cook.

:The group’s aims are to hold events, collect material and publish information to stimulate the interest and knowledge of Grenoside.  We also encourage and support individuals in their own research as well as developing group research. As a group we are also interested in hearing from people who no longer live in the area but have memories, memorabilia and photos of the area they would be willing to share with us.

:Halifax, the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England, has a long and rich history. The Halifax Antiquarian Society exists to research, preserve and record this, taking the ancient Parish of Halifax as its area of study. This sizeable area stretched 15 miles to the Lancashire border and had boundaries which coincide with those of modern Calderdale in all but a few areas. Other towns included in the 'territory' are Brighouse, Elland, Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and most of Queensbury (the latter now in Bradford).  

:We promote and encourage the public study of both family and local history in the Harrogate and surrounding areas.  We also promote the preservation, security and accessibility of archive material.

:The aim of the Haxby and Wigginton Local History Group is to gather historical information and photographs relating to Haxby and Wigginton.

:The Hebden Bridge Local History Society was formed in 1949 and is a section of the Hebden Bridge Literary and Scientific Society which celebrated its hundredth anniversary in 2005.

:The Society's purpose was 'to gather together periodically for lectures and discussions on archaeological subjects, with special emphasis on local history' and to collect and record data.

:Hessle Local History Society exists to promote and encourage the history and traditions of the town of Hessle, and the study of its history.

:The primary aim of the Society is to advance the knowledge and education of people within the local community and beyond as to the heritage, history, and social development of Hetton-le-Hole and the surrounding area, including Easington Lane, Moorsley, and East Rainton.

:The Group's website is intended to give anyone in the world access to information about the history of Hillsborough and Owlerton in the City of Sheffield. Essentially it covers Sheffield 6 which includes the villages of Loxley, Middlewood and Wadsley including the Don, Loxley and Rivelin Valleys.  It is a suburb with many fine old buildings. There was an explosion of activity during the industrial revolution of both housing for ordinary workers and small industrial concerns though for centuries small water-powered mills were situated along the rivers. Some of these were destroyed in the Great Flood of 1864 never to be built again.  

:The Society actively studies, explores and records the archaeology of the Huddersfield area. It has been doing so since 1956, covering prehistory, the Roman and mediaeval periods and the archaeology of the recent past.

:The Society’s aims are to promote and encourage mutual help between people interested in Family History and Genealogy.  The Society caters particularly for those with interests in the Metropolitan District of Kirklees. The area comprises Batley, Colne Valley, Denby Dale, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Holme Valley, Kirkburton, Meltham, Mirfield, and Spen Valley, an area of nearly 160 square miles. Within its boundaries lie the eleven ancient parishes of Almondbury, Batley, Birstall, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Emley, Kirkburton, Kirkheaton, Mirfield and Thornhill. High Hoyland, Halifax and Saddleworth are on the fringes of the area and some parts of these ancient parishes are included.  

:Huddersfield Local History Society is a membership organisation for anybody and everybody interested in the history of the town.  Our established activities include monthly talks from September to May; a summer outing; an autumn seminar; an annual journal, free to members; and a series of publications.

:The group aims to research, explore, and publish the history of the city of Kingston upon Hull in Yorkshire, and the surrounding area.

:Ingleborough Archaeology Group (IAG) is based in Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales of England. It has as its core area of operations the Ingleborough massif and the surrounding valleys of Kingsdale, Chapel le Dale and Ribblesdale.

:In 2019 Wharfedale FHG merged with the Keighley and District FHS, forming the Airedale and Wharfedale Family History Society.  (With a focus on family history in the West Riding of Yorkshire town of Keighley, the Keighley and District Family History Society was created in 1986.  It soon became apparent however that there was significant interest from the outlying districts. Through this interest the Society has expanded to what we have today, covering quite a large area of the County of Yorkshire, especially North Yorkshire.  Family history remains as the focus of our research, helping members to find out details of their own families.)

:The London Group meets four times a year, in March, June, September and November, when we aim to have distinguished speakers on a wide variety of subjects, many with a Yorkshire interest. The Group welcomes anyone with an interest in Yorkshire family history.

:The Malhamdale Local History Group exists to promote and further knowledge about the history of the Parish of Kirkby Malhamdale, situated in upper Airedale. Based around the historic ecclesiastical parish, the group's area of interest covers the ten townships of Malham Moor, Malham, Kirkby Malham, Hanlith, Scosthrop, Airton, Calton, Otterburn, Bell Busk, and Coniston Cold.

:The group consists of any interested people, and has informal links with Leeds University. Most members are local, but anyone from anywhere in the world is welcome to join us.

:Marshland, a part of England relatively unknown to tourists, lies to the south of Yorkshire’s River Ouse.  The History Group is concerned with the five villages closest to the river, Swinefleet, Reedness, Whitgift and Ousefleet and Adlingfleet.

:The Metcalfe Society supports the interest in the family history of the Metcalfe name & all spelling variants and acts as the principal link between branches in the home country and those settled worldwide. So whether you are interested in the name, its origin and history, or need some help with your own Metcalfe family history, why not join what is probably the world’s largest one-name family history society.

:Our aim is to record and preserve details of the area’s rich past – the buildings, the way of life and more importantly the people who worked so hard to create a thriving community. We have also developed an online archive on our website for public access to information on the area’s heritage.

:The Nether Edge History Group is based in the Nether Edge district of Sheffield and is part of the Nether Edge Neighbourhood Group. It is interested in all historical facts and photos concerning Nether Edge and its surrounding area. The boundaries are flexible and material from Abbeydale, Sharrow, Banner Cross as well as Nether Edge is always of interest.

:The Group's mission is to encourage, promote and facilitate research into the history, archaeology and vernacular architecture of the area of North Craven which is centred on Settle.

:North Duffield Conservation and Local History Society was formed in the early 1980's by a group of local residents who wished to research the history of the village and to conserve the rural way of life.

:The Society seeks to promote interest in Local History in the Allertonshire Wapentake of the old North Riding, but in practice supports Local History activity anywhere in the modern county of North Yorkshire.

:The group is currently researching the history of the village and surrounding areas from 1900 through to current times. Also they are researching the older houses of Northowram and Shibden.

:History of people and buildings in the ancient parish of Norton, Sheffield.  The group has gradually lapsed into inactivity.  They have only 3 members left and do not meet regularly.  They are happy to answer queries on local issues, but other than that they are largely dormant.

:The Society encourages research and recording of the history of Dronfield and its ancient parish which includes Apperknowle, Little Barlow, Coal Aston, Dronfield Woodhouse, Holmesfield and Unstone.  Conservation of surviving buildings and features of the town and area has been a major objective and in association with the Civic Society we monitor any plans for re-development or alterations of old buildings.

:The Olicana Historical Society arranges an annual winter programme of lectures on a variety of subjects of both general and local historical interest.  In summer a programme of visits is arranged for members.  Where possible these visits are linked to the winter lectures.

:For over thirty years the Ossett Historical Society has fostered an interest in the history of Ossett, and that of the surrounding area.  

:The Pocklington & District Local History Group was started in 2007 and aims to promote and record the history and heritage of the area. We have put our effort into creating a website and digitally storing photographs, recordings, documents and family histories of peoples in the area. We also hold the Digital archives of the Bishop Wilton Local History Group now disbanded.

:The aims of our Society are to foster and promote the study of archaeology and its contribution to history, especially in and around Pontefract.

:As well as the Parish of Pontefract which includes the Chapelry of Knottingley, the areas of Carleton, East Hardwick and Tanshelf, the Society also covers the ancient parishes of Candleford, Ackworth, Badsworth, Birkin, Brayton, Brotherton, Darrington, Featherstone, Felkirk, Ferry Fryston, Hemsworth, Kellington, Kippax, Kirk Smeaton, Ledsham, Methley, Monk Fryston, Normanton, Sherburn in Elmet, South Kirkby, Womersley, Wragby, and the towns and villages within them.

:Poppleton History Society was established in 1989 to encourage local residents to develop interests in the history of their community and to record it.  The Archaeology Group runs under the auspices of the Historical Society.

:We study the pre-history, history & archaeology of Mashamshire. 2010 - currently looking at the valley of the River Burn from source to where it joins the River Ure.

:Welcome to the Ranmoor Society – a local history group focusing on Sheffield’s Victorian suburb of Ranmoor and the neighbouring areas of Hangingwater and Nether Green.

:Founded in 1987, the Ripon Historical Society is actively concerned with all aspects of the City of Ripon and the surrounding area from Masham to South Stainley and from Skelton-on-Ure to Nidderdale.

:Ripon Historical Society will be closing down at the end of 2017.  Their assets and archives will be transferred to the [http://riponmuseums.co.uk/ Ripon Museums Trust].  It is hoped that at least some of their existing functions, e.g., a members' journal of some kind, will continue under the umbrella of the Trust.  They may also be able to offer a little basic research assistance as time and volunteer help allows.

:Rosedale History Society was formed in 2008 to bring together the communities of Rosedale, Thorgill and Hartoft and enable us to form an archive of historical material.  This is a story of drama, conflict and huge changes, brought about by church, State and the Industrial Revolution.  Our now peaceful and beautiful dale, set deep in the North Yorkshire Moors is a haven for walkers, historians, archaeologists and geologists.  It is a fascinating and mysterious place, with many stories to tell.

:Rotherham Archaeological Society is a voluntary body dedicated to the preservation of Rotherham’s historic buildings and to the investigation and recording of its archaeology and heritage.

:The Society was formed in July 1983 to bring together the Family History Community in Rotherham and the surrounding area. It offers a forum and marketplace, which gives its members the opportunity to meet other like minded people in a friendly atmosphere conducive to the furtherment of their Genealogical interests.

:Ryburn Valley History Society represents a group of mainly local people interested in the history of the area.  The Ryburn Valley has a rich history from prehistoric man, Viking activity, evidence of the Romans passing by, trade routes linking cottage industries then the impact of industrialisation.

:The Ryedale Family History Group was established in 2005 to help members to further their research into family and local history.

:The Saddleworth Historical Society aims to document the history of Saddleworth, to promote an interest in the area’s past, and to facilitate research relating to Saddleworth history. The Society’s activities range from prehistory and archaeology to landscape studies and architecture.  Members’ interests include the textile industry,  the Industrial Revolution, transportation by way of packhorse trails, turnpike roads, the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, railways, and family histories.

:The Society, originally called The Scarborough and District Archaeological Society, was founded in 1947 by a group of enthusiasts keen to preserve and research the rich archaeological inheritance of the area. Originally an excavating society, over the years our activities have expanded.

:Sedbergh & District History Society was founded in 1980 and now has members throughout the world. Its aims are to study, research, publish and stimulate interest in history but mainly in the history of the local area.  The society archives hold copies of parish registers, tithe maps and schedules, censuses, land tax returns, deeds and wills, as well as an extensive collection of photographs dating from about 1858 onwards.

:Formed in May 2001 from a short Workers Education Association Family History Course, it has developed into a group where experienced members offer help and advice to those that require it.  

:We set up nearly 40 years ago for the mutual benefit of people interested in the study of family and local history.

:Sheriff Hutton played an important part in medieval history and has a growing collection of documents and photographs about the changes in the village through the 20th century.

:The group is an organisation that has brought together people who are enthusiastic about local history. Its aim is to continue the research and promotion of the heritage of the Shire Brook Valley.  

:The Society was founded in 1971 to form a focus for people within the Skipton area interested in both local and national history.

:We are a small community group researching the history and archaeology of the South Ainsty area, which lies to the south-west of York. Our area of interest is bounded by the A64 and the rivers Ouse and Wharfe. This includes the villages of Copmanthorpe, Acaster Malbis, Appleton Roebuck, Bolton Percy, Acaster Selby and Colton.

:South Bradford Local History Alliance is made up of Low Moor Local History Group, Wibsey Local History Group, and Wyke Local History Group.  For some time now members of these groups have been transcribing parish and other records relating to the areas the various groups cover and these transcriptions are rapidly becoming available on this site.

:Tadcaster Historical Society is a small, local history group who not only meet monthly to hear an historical lecture, but are also engaged in their own research, both individually and in groups. Together, they have produced several books on the history of Tadcaster. These include a major achievement: the transcription and translation from Latin into English of the Manor Court Rolls of the Percy Manor of Tadcaster for the 16th and 17th Century.

:The Thoresby Society is the historical society for Leeds and its surrounding area and is open to everyone interested in the city’s rich past and its development over the centuries. It has a long-established library and archive collection, including historical records, maps, newspapers, and images, provides a varied programme of monthly talks and summer excursions, and publishes original research on aspects of Leeds history in its highly regarded annual publication (free to members).

:The Society was formed in May 2013 for people interested in the history of Thornton le Dale and the surrounding area. There is a wide range of interests and expertise within the group and enthusiasm for investigating various aspects of the history of Thornton le Dale.

:In 2019 Wharfedale FHG merged with the Keighley and District FHS, forming the Airedale and Wharfedale Family History Society.  (Founded in 1980 the group is open to anyone interested in tracing their ancestry.  If your roots are in Wharfedale or further afield you will find help and encouragement in this fascinating hobby by joining the Wharfedale Family History Group.)

:We are a local history group whose main interest lies in the village (and its surrounding area) that we all call home - Whiston Village, located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, UK. We aim to document the life of the village; past, present and future; present this information in the form of books, publications, lectures; photographs and videos; and provide advice, support and information to the local community and wider general public in their search for information about Whiston.  

:Wibsey LHG was formed in the spring of 2000 when a group of local residents felt there was more to be learned about the history of this ancient village, mentioned in Domesday.

:The aims of this society are to promote the advancement of education of the public in all aspects of the history of Woodsetts, South Yorkshire in particular but not exclusively by the provision of publications, meetings, exhibitions, lectures and such other means as the trustees think fit, including undertaking research, recording and (whenever possible) publishing the history of the area, its people and life style from its earliest times to the present day.

:The Yorkshire Archaeological & Historical Society was founded in 1863 (as the Huddersfield Archaeological and Topographical Association) to promote interest in the history and archaeology of the Huddersfield area. In 1870 it expanded its interest to cover the whole of Yorkshire, and today it is the main society in this field for the historic county.

:Family history has been a fast growing subject for over three decades, with interest ranging from who our ancestors were, where they lived and worked, and the social history of the period. The aim of the Section is to promote these interests and assist members in their research.

:YAYAS is lucky to have an active council with a wide variety and depth of experience in fields related to architecture, archaeology, history and heritage.
