Perthshire Societies: Difference between revisions

:Abertay Historical Society was founded in 1947 and promotes interest in the history of Dundee, Angus, Fife, and Perthshire.  The Society organises public lectures in Dundee and elsewhere in the Abertay area on a variety of historical topics, as well as occasional special events including guided tours and conferences. We also support the work of other local heritage organisations.

:The Society was formed in 1990 to serve the needs of those interested in family history who lived in what was then the Central Region. This means that as well as the old counties of Clackmannanshire, Stirlingshire, and West Perthshire, the Society covers the parishes of Bo'ness and Carriden which were in West Lothian.

:The Society was established in September 1981 to promote the study of genealogy, family history, and related subjects in the Highlands of Scotland.  Our area covers the old counties of Sutherland, Ross, Inverness, and Nairn (and we retain interest in, and information about, Caithness and northern parishes of Argyll and Perth, though they now have their own local family history groups).  

:The Group was started in 1999 and is still going strong.  It serves Inversnaid, Kinlochard, and Aberfoyle.  Their agenda centres around Stirlingshire and Perthshire, but on some occasions local speakers may deal with broader topics.  

:TVFHS Research Centre remains one of the principal centres of Family History Research in the Tay Valley area, which comprises the counties of Angus, Fife, Kinross, and Perthshire.

:The Association was founded in 1987 with a remit to promote the diverse history of Strathearn's Royal Burghs.  Our talks cover many and varied topics with particular interest in the distant and not so distant past of Auchterarder and surrounding areas.

:A group of enthusiasts endeavouring to preserve and add to Callander's rich history, from photo archives to the stories and secrets of the landscape.

:We are committed to gathering and disseminating local history. To that end we have accumulated a large and varied quantity of historical information both written and photographic, and aim to play a major part in helping to decide local public history policy.  

:The Society is run by local residents of Glenlyon with an interest in the local history of the glen.

:A community history society who aim to understand and preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the local area of Moulin Parish and the town of Pitlochry.  

:The Group's principal aim is to provide a meeting place for all interested in family history, offering opportunity for group discussions, shared knowledge and resources

:The Aim of the Society is to raise awareness and foster an interest in local history and facilitate research into the heritage of Scone and district.
