:The South Wales Record Society was established in 1982 and exists to publish a regular series of texts and other works relating to the history of South Wales, and in particular to the historic counties of Glamorgan and Monmouthshire.  

:In 1959 the Friends of Abergavenny Museum committee saved the crumbling hunting lodge at Abergavenny Castle from demolition and raised funds to create the first Abergavenny Museum. The committee went on to found the Abergavenny Local History Society.  Today the society has almost 400 members.  Members enjoy monthly talks and summer visits to places of interest.  The museum was handed to the county council in 1971. More recently, the society created a Victorian-themed garden to complement the museum's Victorian collection.

:Abersychan & Garndiffaith Local History Group was formed in 1994 following a public meeting.  Since that time to the present, our group has held monthly meetings with speakers on various aspects of local history, recorded aspects of local history which otherwise would have been lost, publishing them in a series of small, inexpensive journals, and these activities provide a source for present and future generations.  We hope you enjoy your visit to this historic industrial area situated in the most eastern valley of the South Wales Coalfield, Wales, United Kingdom.

:The Abertillery and District Museum is run by the volunteers of Abertillery and District Museum Society.  The aim of the Society is to set up and maintain a museum in Abertillery, to hold monthly talks, and to promote history in the area.

:The Ancient Cwmbran Project came to an end after its 18 month period of activity, but the Volunteers involved with the project found that there was still so much interest in our local archaeology that the Ancient Cwmbran Society was formed to continue this work.  The Ancient Cwmbran Society has continued to build upon the foundations laid down by the original project , and over several years built up a  large membership made up of interested local people and experts alike.

:We are a group concerned with preserving this area’s rich history and heritage. We work closely with, but independent of, Blaenau Gwent County Borough Heritage Services.  Our many activities include organising Heritage and Commemoration Days, delivering monthly talks on historical topics, producing a six-monthly journal, and publishing historical material relating to the area.   

:The Blaina Heritage Action Group's objective is to advance the education of the public in the history of Blaina.  The Group has just opened their new state of art museum. The museum displays the heritage and history of Blaina and the local area. The facility includes brand-new displays including sections on the local coal and iron industries, chapels, schools, local celebrities, and a fully furnished reconstruction of a Victorian Welsh Kitchen. They also hold local census returns from 1871 through to 1901 and cemetery records that are an important resource for genealogists a local history researchers. They also hold a wealth of information on local history and personal records, from Chartism to rugby.

:Caldicot Local History Society is an active and thriving group committed to sharing, discovering, promoting, and bringing to life all aspects of the rich history of Caldicot and surrounding villages.

:Chepstow Archaeological Society aims to explore and understand the archaeology of Chepstow and the surrounding area and provides a focus for local people interested in its archaeology and history.

:We are a local society, formed in 1948 to explore and promote the remarkable history of the town, and to keep an eye on developments in the town.

:The Society was formed in 2003. It was apparent by the interest shown at the initial meetings that the past history of Cwmbran and surrounding areas should be preserved , photographed, and recorded for future generations and the people of Cwmbran; the Eastern Valley; Torfaen County Borough; Croesyceiliog and Llanyrafon community council; together with Cwmbran and Henllys community councils.  

:The Association was established with the object of advancing the education of the general public through promoting the study of the history of Gwent and publishing a history of Gwent.

:Our Society exists to encourage an interest in both family history and genealogy amongst the people of Gwent, and amongst those living elsewhere who may have ancestral connections with the historic county of Monmouthshire.

:The Group was formed with the main objectives to facilitate talks, presentations, and visits on local and county history and to engage in research on the local history of the area.

:The Monmouthshire Antiquarian Association was founded in 1847 and was originally known as the Caerleon Antiquarian Association. The association has survived into the twenty-first century and has a strong membership and an important role in fostering the county’s archaeological and historical heritage.  

:Pontnewynydd History Society was formed in May 2008 to develop public interest in all aspects of local history.

:The objects of the Group are to encourage the study of local history and further research into the subject.  These objects are pursued by means of meetings, lectures, visits to historical sites, publication of articles, exchange of information, and organizing activities to encourage the aims of the group.  

:The Society was established to support and stimulate the study and understanding of the local history of this corner of Wales. The society's area includes the villages of Shirenewton, Mynydd-bach, Earlswood, and West Newchurch, together with the adjacent parish of Itton-with-Howick.
