| The 2nd Regiment Kentucky Infantry was organized at Camp Clay, Ohio, under William E Woodruff, and was mustered into the United States service on the 13th day of June, 1861. Companies E and G were detailed for the duty to guard the railroad between Murfreesboro and Nashville and were captured by Forests Cavalry in July, 1862. The rest of the Company traveled to Kingston, Georgia for garrison duty until June 3rd, 1864. It mustered out at Covington, Kentucky, on June 19, 1864.<ref>Kentucky.
