In 1936, the Paiute Indians of Burns and others along the Columbia River were transferred to the Umatilla Agency from [[Warm_Springs_Indian_Agency_(Oregon)|Warms Springs Agency]] and [[Yakima_Indian_Agency_(Washington)|Yakima Agency]].
