The Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana, often shortened to "Little Shell", were located in the Red River-Pembina region during the mid-19th century. In 1892, following the renegotiation of the Treaty of 1863, the Little Shell tribe was left without land. The tribal numbers were in the several thousand, but without a reservation or enrollment, there is no documentation of the exact population.
