The following is a listing of all the parishes in Sweden with their associated Härad (District) and Län (County). This list is in the correct Swedish alphabetical order which is the same as the English alphabet with the additional letters of Å, Ä, and Ö (these 3 extra letters follow after the letter Z respectively). This page is under construction. Rather than have a basic list, we are creating a page in the FamilySearch Wiki for each parish in Sweden. We will link each Swedish parish page to this page for convenience, and move the county, district, and notes information to the actual parish page. Remember we are using the correct Swedish alphabetical order including the Å, Ä, and Ö which follow after the letter Z respectively. As this list is used as a research tool, please consider:
*When there are multiple parishes in a city, the parishes are listed under the name of the city followed by the name of the particular parish.
*When there are multiple parishes in a city, the parish page will be listed by the city name (colon) followed by the parish name.
*The jurisdictional relationship between a parish and the district sometimes changed. This list reflects the district association as it is listed in the Family History Library Catalog.
*When there are multiple parishes by the exact same name, we will title the page by the county (colon) followed by the parish name.
*The notes section contains various references that are intended to help the research process. Although there are some references to when a parish burned, do not assume this list is comprehensive.
*Each parish will have its own page (no matter when the parish was created).
The effort to create a great page for each parish in Sweden is a huge project, any assistance would be appreciated.
The list has been created in the FamilySearch Wiki as a research tool. Any assistance to improve the listing (especially in the notes) would be greatly appreciated.
