Before 1736 Gries (in [https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Amt_Brumath ''Amt ''Brumath]) was in the territory of [https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Hanau-Lichtenberg Hanau-Lichtenberg]. When that line was extinguished in 1736 it was transferred to [https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Hesse_Darmstadt_%28Landgrave%29 Hesse-Darmstadt]. The rights of all nobility over Weitbruch were abolished effective 11 Aug 1789 by France. This was confirmed by the Peace of Lunéville on 9 February 1801.<br>
