:Hi Don, you say that "the template software is dysfunctional". Can you explain with examples what you mean? You refer to the "disp=" parameter of the {{tl|FHL}} template. This is used to change the link text for that template. It is working. Are you wanting to change the link text used on the {{tl|FHL}} template within this template? If so then you just need to add the same parameter, perhaps even using ''disp''.
