Census Records
Research use: Has good genealogical information linking and identifying people. May provide missing data from other sources.
Record type: Population statistics.
Time period: 1811-present.
Contents: Individual names, relationships, number of households for each city, town or village; unmarried mature males, widows who were heads of households, and land and property owners.
Location: National Archives, Freetown; some are in the Public Records Office in London.
Population coverage: Approximately 40% of the British, and 20% of the native inhabitants. This includes some individuals not found in other records such as servants, etc.
Reliability: Generally good, some gaps.[1]
