While a precise founding date isn't given, fragments of vases dating back to the 5th century BC have been found, suggesting habitation by that time.

Jurisdictions:

  • Historically: Part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until World War I.
  • Post-WWI: Became part of Italy.
  • 1928: Aggregated to Strigno.
  • 1946: Regained autonomy.

Major events:

  • 5th Century BC: Evidence of habitation (vase fragments).
  • 1365: Destruction of Castel Nerva/Castello di San Martino.
  • 16th Century: Development of agricultural, commercial, and industrial activity.
  • 1552: Drafting of the Regulae Communitatis Scurellarum (charter of rules).
  • Around 1700: Importance of mulberry tree cultivation and silkworm breeding; construction of a spinning mill and later a paper mill.
  • 1825 & 1882: Devastating floods.
  • Early 1900s: Resumption of industrial activity.
  • WWI (1915-1917): Scurelle was on the front lines and was completely destroyed. Described as "the cemetery of Trentino."
  • Early 1920s: Rebuilding of the town and industrial plants.
  • 1928: Aggregation to Strigno.
  • 1946: Regained autonomy.[1]
