Description[edit | edit source]

Santa Clara County was created 18 Feb 1850[1] and was named for the Mission Santa Clara de Asís, St. Clare of Assisi. Its county seat is San Jose. It is located in the west-central area of the state.[2]

County Recorder has birth and death records from 1873.
