The foundation date is uncertain, but some historians believe it goes back to 216 BC, while others suggest 316 BC, linking it to the settlement of Etruscans in the area. Roman remains have been discovered in the area, indicating settlements from ancient times. The village is first mentioned in an 11th-century text, suggesting medieval origins.
