History[edit | edit source]

The borgo franco was organized in the early 1200s. However, there is evidence of a Longobard settlement existing long before the creation of the borgo franco.

Jurisdictions:

  • It was founded by the podestà of Novara, Robaconte da Mandello.
  • The Caccia family held possession until the 18th century.
  • Later, the Vitta family took over, leading to the name change in 1863 to Mandello Vitta.
  • In 1928, it was united with Vicolungo, but it regained its autonomy in 1954.[1]
