The borgo franco was organized in the early 1200s. However, there is evidence of a Longobard settlement existing long before the creation of the borgo franco.
Jurisdictions:
- It was founded by the podestà of Novara, Robaconte da Mandello.
- The Caccia family held possession until the 18th century.
- Later, the Vitta family took over, leading to the name change in 1863 to Mandello Vitta.
- In 1928, it was united with Vicolungo, but it regained its autonomy in 1954.[1]
