County Information
Description
Madera County was created 16 May 1893[1] and was named for the town of Madera (Madera is the Spanish term for wood), named when the California Lumber Company built a log flume to carry lumber to the railroad there in 1876.[2] Its county seat is Madera. It is located in the central area of the state.[3]
