Major events:

  • From the 17th century onwards, the economy of the country was marked by famines, plagues, and, above all, repeated floods.
  • The plague reached Lodrino in June 1630.
  • In 1764 and 1775, Valtrompia experienced two famines, preceded by an epidemic of contagious diseases in 1761 and 1762.
  • During the anti-Austrian uprising of 1848, several young people who refused to join the Austrian army fled to Switzerland via Lodrino and then Val Sabbia.[1]
