Description[edit | edit source]
Kent County was created on 8 August 1673 and named for Kent, an English county. Its county seat is Dover.[1] It is located in the central part of the state. Kent is one of few counties bordering another county with same name across the state line, Kent (MD) County, Maryland.[2]
