County Courthouse[edit | edit source]

Hermann is the county seat of Gasconade County, Missouri.

History[edit | edit source]

Gasconade County was organized on November 25, 1820. The first county seat was Gasconade City. After a flood in 1825, the seat of government was moved to Bartonville in what is now Osage County. After another flood in 1828, the county seat was moved to Mount Sterling where it remained until 1842. An election was held that year and Hermann was selected to be the final county seat.
