Church Records

At its founding, Congregationalism was the dominant religion in Connecticut and was even the state religion until 1818. Other common Christian denominations include the Methodist, Episcopal, Roman Catholic, and Baptist churches. Due to the decisions of Roman Catholic Archdiocese in this area, records cannot be obtained for genealogical purposes, as the Archdiocese has stated there is sufficient public information to research genealogy.
