Finding the Registration District
Beginning in 1837, the Welsh would register their births, marriages, and deaths in the registration district they were living in. The civil records are organized by district. Therefore, it is beneficial to know the registration district in order to find the civil record of an ancestor.
- Knowing the parish is necessary to find the registration district. If parish unknown, go to Finding the Wales Place of Origin to learn how to find it.
To find the registration district:
- Go to UKBMD: Registration Districts and click on the county to see a list of civil registration districts in that county.
If only the county is known:
