Description

This project is a compilation of family group sheets filled out and submitted to the Utah Genealogy Society, (the precursor to FamilySearch) by descendants of Greek ancestors. Each family group sheet has the name of the person who filled it out, the person who submitted the sheet, and the source of their information.

Please note that the group sheets have been translated word for word and letter for letter, exactly as is written on the sheet, except when information given had obvious typographical errors that made information confusing. In those instances corrections were made. The information on the sheets is considered a secondary source. The information used for sources are taken directly from the submitter.

History

In the late 1960’s to the early 80’s, members of the Greek community came together with the purpose of documenting their immigrant Greek families. Subsequently, a collection with over 1,250 group sheets containing over 14,000 names, dates, and sources, were compiled into one collection.

Group Sheet Information

• First, middle, and surnames
• Dates of births, marriages, and deaths
• Children and their spouses, when given
• Submitter, notes, and sources
• Greek spellings of names and places - correct and incorrectly given by submitter
• Personal info such as occupation and multiple marriages, when given

Contribute to the Collection

A downloadable Family Group Sheet has been provided for you to fill out and submit. You can submit as many sheets as you wish. Family group sheets must include one or more family member(s) that were born in Greece. Please provide the most accurate sources you can find.

Once the sheet is complete, please attach and submit completed pages to GFGSproject@gmail.com.
