Ghemme's origins date back to the Neolithic era. It was later romanized with the name Pagus Agamino. In 356, there is evidence of Ghemme in a letter from Sant'Eusebio addressed to the "Agamini ad Palatium".
Jurisdictions:
- Ghemme was a feudo under the De Castello-Barbavara around 1150 and then the Bergamino (1470).
- The territory was under the dominion of the Ducato di Milano.
- It later became part of the dominion of the Savoia with Benedetto Maurizio.
Major events:
- In 1467, the Duke of Milan Galeazzo Maria Sforza visited the Ricetto Castle for the Peace of Ghemme, a treaty that ended hostilities between the Duchy of Milan and the Duchy of Savoy.
- On March 6, 1945, 10 partisans were shot by Nazis in the countryside around Ghemme.[1]
