Land Records
Land records, especially records of Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, and British holdings contain names and family relationships of both Europeans and natives not found in other sources. Records can begin as early as 1600 and go to the present. Information on these records may include name of landholder, name of wife, lands held, taxes paid, lists of previous landholders, lists of native workers, sometimes with families. These records are found in the National Archives in Accra; the National Archives in Portugal, National Archives in the Netherlands, National Archives in Denmark, and the National Archives in London.
