The municipality was established in 1928.
Jurisdictions:
- 1928: The municipalities of Malosco, San Felice, Senale, and Vasio were aggregated into Fondo.
- 1947: Malosco, San Felice, and Senale were reconstituted as separate municipalities.
- 2020: Fondo merged with Castelfondo and Malosco to form the municipality of Borgo d'Anaunia.

- The significant events are the aggregations in 1928, the separations in 1947, and the final merger in 2020 to create Borgo d'Anaunia.[1]
