Oct 2024 Updates to Wiki Policies and Manual of Style
Additional Format for Multiple Volumes
Problem:
Some books have multiple volumes with different titles. Listing in one long bullet is difficult to read.
Solution/Decision:
A new variation was created and put in the Manual of Style

User Pages
Problem:
- Non-Wiki editors have been requested to make a Wiki User Page to advertize their services as a professional genealogist.
Solution/Decision:
- User Pages will be permitted for past/current active Wiki editors and contributors. A non-contributor cannot request a User Page.
- User Pages may contain links to personal websites, publications, and professional organizations. Any kind of solicitation for work is not allowed, including listing rates for services.
When to List the Same Resource Twice on a Wiki Page
Problem:
- An online resource sometimes needs more information about what the resource is, how it should be used, and the genealogical significance.
- If it is only listed under, Online Resources, the context of additional information cannot be included.
Solution/Decision:
- Repeat the resource (database or print publication) in the body of the article as well as at the top of the Wiki page (under Online Resources or Print Publications headings) to give context and help the user find the resource quickly.
Examples:
Virginia Probate Records
