Adding links to the FamilySearch Places tool to all United States counties pages to make it easier for researchers to find cemeteries, cities and towns in the counties where they are researching.

Part 1: Add the FamilySearch Places Link to the Cemeteries Section[edit | edit source]

Step 1: On the main page, scroll down to the cemeteries heading. |

Step 3: Find the section labeled "List of Cemeteries in the County". It will look like this. |

Step 4: Look for the last cemetery in that row. The link to FamilySearch Places goes right below it and above the pipe and the dash. |

| Step 5: Copy and paste the code on the right into the space below the last cemetery and above the pipe and the dash. (-|) | |

Step 6: Go to FamilySearch Places. |

| Step 10: Click in the window that says "place type". | (click image to enlarge) |

Step 11: Select cemetery. If you get no search results, type no results for cemeteries and move on to the next step. You will still place the URL on the page whether or not you have search results. |

Step 12: Replace the URL code on the Wiki page. |

Step 13: Click "show preview" and make sure it looks right. It should look like the link on the right and link to a list of cemeteries for the county you are working on. |

Step 14: Scroll to the bottom of the page and type "added link to cemeteries in FamilySearch Places". Step 15: Save your work and move to part 2. |

Part 2: Add the FamilySearch Places Link to the Maps and Gazetteers Section[edit | edit source]

Step 1: On the main page, go to the Maps and Gazetteers Heading. |

| Step 2: Find where you will place the link to FamilySearch Places. It will go at the bottom of the section. |

| Step 3: Copy the code on the right and paste it below everything in the maps and gazetteers section. |

| Step 4: Go to FamilySearch Places Step 5: Enter in the name of the county and state you are working on. |

| Step 6: Find the correct county and state in the search results and click the blue link to the right that says "Places in this County". |

| Step 6A: Some counties may have two entries from two different time periods. Choose the most recent one. |
|
| Step 7: Click "add filter". |
|
| Step 8: Click in the window that says "place type". |
|
| Step 9: Select Cities and Towns. If you get no search results, type no results for cities and towns and move on to the next step. You will still place the URL on the page whether or not you have search results. |

| Step 10: Copy the URL of the page and replace URL in the code on the page.
