FamilySearch Wiki:WikiProject Wales Infobox - Counties
Purpose[edit | edit source]
Some countries in the Wiki have infoboxes on each of the parish pages that gives precise jurisdictional information for each parish. We have added an infobox to all of the parish pages in Wales so we can add that jurisdictional information. This is very helpful for the researchers, as it tells them what different jurisdictional levels held their records.
For this project, we will be moving the county information from the Administration table to the infobox.

Task List[edit | edit source]
Instructions[edit | edit source]
Sign up on Task List[edit | edit source]
1. Go to the Task List and put your name in the "Name" column for the respective Wiki pages you'd like to work on.
2. Click on the name of the wiki page you signed up for. The name is linked to the actual Wiki page and will take you directly to that page.
Check for Administration Table[edit | edit source]
3. Some parish pages will have an Administration table, like the following below:
4. If your parish page does not have an Administration table like this on the page, write "None" in the Notes section of the task list, and continue on to the next parish.
5. If your parish page does have an Administration table like this, click on "Edit source" for the entire page, so you can see all of the code for the whole page at once.
Add Administration to Infobox[edit | edit source]
6. Locate the "Administration" heading in the code. It will look similar to the following image:
7. Notice in the table under the "Administration" heading, there are 3 time periods of information it contains: before 31 March 1974, 1 April 1974-31 March 1996, and from 1 April 1996. The code (internal link to a county) immediately below each of these time periods is the corresponding county for that time. These will correspond with the rest of the project.
8. Find the part of the "Administration" table that says before 31 March 1974 (the red arrow below). The corresponding county for that time period is shown with the green arrow.
Copy the highlighted code (the internal county link).
9. Scroll up the page of code immediately above the "Administration" table, and you should see the infobox template (as shown below).
Find the part of the infobox that says:
| County bef 1974 = add here
10. Delete the "add here", and paste the code you just copied. It should look something like the following:
11. Repeat this process with the other 2 counties from the "Administration" table, placing them in the corresponding part of the infobox. The image below shows a visual representation of what pieces of "Administration" table information goes in which part of the infobox.
12. Once you have added all 3 counties from the "Administration" table to the infobox, delete the "Administration" heading, and the table code right underneath it.
Only delete the following code that is highlighted below.
13. Once you have deleted the "Administration" heading and table, click "Show preview" to check your edits. You should have the appropriate counties in the infobox, and the "Administration" heading and table should no longer appear on the page.
14. Enter SUMMARY: Project Wales Infobox - Counties
15. Once everything looks correct, click "Save changes" and continue on to the next parish in the task list.
