Progress reports
- Birth record film -- did it have name of children or not? - Patsy It did NOT have names of children. She also updated the Experimental County page to reflect this.
- Funeral home records - Lois Fowles is almost finished inputting funeral homes on the county pages.
- Brainstorm: we need a questionnaire so people can review their websites and contact the mortuaries to learn:
- years their records began
- complete run since then?
- records they create for each funeral
- what do they keep?
- Early records may not have the same depth. Have they changed what they gather/keep (Early records are often more complete than later. Now they just fill out forms.) Unless they have preserved the funeral program, etc. there may not be much more than what is on the death certificate.
- transportation records; embalming, care of body; another location for burial, esp if in different states; burial permits; purchasing gravesite; Cemeteries have to have those documents
- paper trail
- We need a Wiki article that talks about the paper trail for funeral homes and for cemeteries
- Burial permits; Programs
- Funeral homes that have gone out of business, where are those records?
- Do you have records from previous funeral homes. Do they know where early records might be?
- Names and years of those previous funeral homes for which they have records
- Brainstorm: we need a questionnaire so people can review their websites and contact the mortuaries to learn:
- Neighboring counties
- Beth Taylor sent written instructions to make the maps clickable. Joy Bogar is going to work on these.
- Joy's husband, Bo, is proof reading that all the neighboring counties are on the list. (He found a few that were not complete)
- Results of poll re: order of records to suggest for finding birth information. (Based on How to Find Birth Information in the United States, by James Tanner.
