Instructions

1. Open the Task List, and add your name to the Name column for the parishes you want to sign up for.

2. Open the North Yorkshire, England, Church of England Deaths and Burials, 1813-1995 collection on Ancestry.com.

  • You do not have to be signed in to Ancestry to work on this project.

3. Locate the right-hand side of the collection page in the box called "Browse this collection".

4. Locate the dropdown for Parish.

5. Then, click the dropdown for Parish, and check if the parish from the task list appears in the dropdown list of parishes.

  • a. If the parish does appear, put "Yes" in the In collection? column, and continue to step 6.
  • b. If the parish does not appear, put "No" in the In collection? and in the Added to wiki page? columns of the task list, and continue on to the next parish.

6. Go to the parish wiki page using the link in the "Parish" column of the Task List.

7. Go to the Church of England heading, and click "Edit source".

8. Look for a section of the table with the following code: | bgcolor="#ffffff" width="30%"| Ancestry-North Yorkshire ($).

  • If this section of the table is not in the table already, continue to step 9.
  • If this section of the table is in the table already, go to step 12.

9. Copy the following code:

| bgcolor="#ffffff" width="30%"| Ancestry-North Yorkshire ($)
| bgcolor="#E8E8E8"| <center>'''-'''</center>
| bgcolor="#E8E8E8"| <center>'''-'''</center>
| bgcolor="#ffffff" | <center>'''-'''</center>
| bgcolor="#ffffff" | <center>'''-'''</center>
| bgcolor="#E8E8E8" | <center>'''-'''</center>
| bgcolor="#E8E8E8"| <center>'''-'''</center>
|-

10. Locate the section of the parish table that says | bgcolor="#ffffff" width="30%"| Ancestry-England & Wales, Birth, Christening, Marriage and Death Indexes ($), and add one empty line above that section of the table (see the yellow line in the image below).

11. Paste the code from step 9 into the empty line you just created. (see example of finished code below)

12. Next, copy the following code:

[https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/62238/ 1800s-1900s]

13. Locate the 2nd-to-last cell of that section (the 2nd-to-last set of <center>'''-'''</center> in this section of the table).

14. Replace that instance of '''-''' in that line with the code you copied in step 12.

  • Note: There may already be other collection(s) listed in this table near to where you are working on this project.

The resulting code should look similar to this:

| bgcolor="#ffffff" width="30%"| Ancestry-North Yorkshire ($)
| bgcolor="#E8E8E8"| <center>'''-'''</center>
| bgcolor="#E8E8E8"| <center>'''-'''</center>
| bgcolor="#ffffff" | <center>'''-'''</center>
| bgcolor="#ffffff" | <center>'''-'''</center>
| bgcolor="#E8E8E8" | <center>[https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/62238/ 1800s-1900s]</center>
| bgcolor="#E8E8E8"| <center>'''-'''</center>
|-

15. Click "Show preview", and look at the final parish table. You should see the following new collection added in the Burials for North Yorkshire (see image below)
