FamilySearch Wiki:WikiProject Removing ePodunk Links

Purpose

The purpose of this project is to remove ePodunk, a now-defunct website, from the FamilySearch Wiki.

Instructions

1. Open the spreadsheet and place your name next to the link of the FamilySearch Wiki page that you want to edit



2. Click on the link and go to the page


3. Once you are there, hit CTRL+F and search for ePodunk on the page. It will be on the page in a few different ways and each will require you to delete slightly different code. The major types are listed below with their correlating instructions (if you find another type and are unsure how to proceed contact Taylor).


4. In order to delete the link off the page, click on the Edit Source button.


5. If ePodunk is in a table, you will have to delete the link as well as the code around it for its table entry.
   
   For example a link for ePodunk in a table might look something like this:

   In this case, you would delete everything from the | bgcolor="#F0F0F0" before the link to ePodunk, to the |- directly after it.
   
   

   If ePodunk is in the middle of a column, and creates a hole when you delete it. Make a note of it on the spreadsheet.


6. If ePodunk is in a bullet point, you will have to delete the link as well as the rest of the bullet point.
   
   For example it might look like something like this:
   
   

   The following web sites have additional information on Adair county cemeteries.
   *[http://www.so-ky.com/cem/adair.htm Adair County Cemeteries] at [http://www.so-ky.com www.so-ky.com] promoting and assisting genealogical and historical research in southern Kentucky and for those with connections to southern Kentucky
   *[http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/localList.php?local=3655&locTGroup=Cemeteries&direction=down&sec=0&qty=46&stateAbbv=&stateName= ePodunk list of Adair County cemeteries] gives the names of the cemeteries in the county with a link to more information such as address, phone number, and web site.
   *[http://www.genealogytrails.com/ken/adair/adair_cem_main.html Genealogytrails.com] has online cemetery listings.
   *[http://interment.net/us/ky/adair.htm Cemeteries of Adair County] at [http://interment.net/Default.htm Interment.net]
   *[http://www.angelfire.com/ky/johnparnell/parnellcem.html Parnell Cemetery] has cemetery transcriptions.
   

   In this case you would delete everything from the asterisk before the ePodunk link to the period after it.
7. Once you delete the code, copy the following: Removing ePodunk from the page
8. Paste that phrase into the summary section.
9. Save the page.
10. Then go back to the spreadsheet and place the date you removed the link from the page, so that we know the link has been removed.
11. Move on to the next entry and repeat the process.
