Task List

  • NOTE: You can scroll through tabs on Google Sheets. Next to the first tab, there are four lines stacked vertically. If you click that, you can see a complete list of all tabs on the Google Sheet. Additionally, next to the last tab, there are right and left arrows that you can click to scroll through.

Instructions[edit | edit source]

1. Choose a municipality in Column C by signing your name next to it

2. Open the link in Column C and the correlating link in Column D.

3. Put the pages side by side if you have a single screen

4. Transfer the information in bullet 1 to the table page.

  • This bullet is in order of Country, State, Region, Municipality

  • You do not need to include the words "Región de" or "Minicipio de"

  • Use keyboard keys "Ctrl+Shift+V" or right click and click "Paste without formatting" to paste in the cells

5. Locate the bullet "Localidades principales del municipio" and transfer each line using the same paste technique above in the provided cells next to "Lower Jurisdictions/Neighborhoods"

6. Locate the bullet "Historia" and add a "*" (Shift+8) before each sentence. Then paste it into the cell next to "History" using the paste technique.

  • Get rid of any extra spaces at the end by Backspacing

7. Locate the bullet "Cementerios" and Fill in the following template with what information is provided for each cemetery listed. Put each cemetery in its own cell.

  • If there is no Dirección:, Horario:, or URL provided for Find a Grave, then remove that part of the template.

8. Locate the bullet "Citas" and paste in the Article Name, URL, and Date to the table labeled "Wikipedia Article (History Reference)." Use the paste technique

  • Keep the quotes around the article name

  • The date is in Spanish, but you can pick it out by the year

9. Locate the bullet "Registro Civil" and paste in the Record Title, URL, and Date Range to the table labeled "Civil Registration." Use the paste technique

  • Leave the "ABC1111111112" unless it has a URL in it

10. Locate the bullet "Registros eclesiásticos" and paste in the Record Title, URL, and Date Range to the table labeled "Parish Records." Use the paste technique and the other steps listed in Step 9.

11. Locate the bullet "Censos" and paste in the Record Title, URL, and Date Range to the table labeled "Census." Use the paste technique and the other steps listed in Step 9.

12. Make sure there are no extra spaces at the end of each cell (There will be blank cells which is OK)

13. If there are any extra record sections, like "Registro Notarial" or "Registros Militares," please fill in everything else as normal and add a note next to it on the spreadsheet. Caileigh will need to add these in manually so it doesn't mess up the pre-created code.

14. Make sure you put the date you finished the transfer in Column B and click the checkbox in Column E when you are done. Put any notes you have in Column F

15. Start over on the next set of texts!
