Purpose
Adding links to North Dakota county biographies heading
Task List
Instructions
1. Go to the Task List and sign out a section of counties in North Dakota to work on.
2. On the first county page, go down to the Biographies heading.
Step 1 - Genealogy Trails URL
3. Copy and paste the following database under the Intro template under the Biographies heading:
*[URL COUNTY Biographies] on [http://genealogytrails.com/ndak/ North Dakota Genealogy Trails website] - alphabetical list of early settlers and prominent individuals from county histories
4. Locate the correct URL to put in the link you just put on the county page by opening a new tab and going to: Genealogy Trails main page and scroll down to the list of counties.
5. Choose the county you are working on and click on the link. This will take you to the page for the county. If the county is not listed, remove the link you added and go to Step 2.
6. Scroll down the page to a section called, Biographies and click on the link. If you can't find a Biographies link somewhere on the page, remove the link you added to the page and go to Step 2.
7. If you found a Biographies page, copy the URL and go back to the county wiki page and paste it in the link you added to the page by replacing "URL" with the new link.
8. Also change "COUNTY" in the URL to the name of the county you are working in. Be sure to include the word, "County". The following is a completed example of the new link:
*[http://genealogytrails.com/ndak/adams/bios.html Adams County Biographies] on [http://genealogytrails.com/ndak/ North Dakota Genealogy Trails website] - alphabetical list of early settlers and prominent individuals from county histories
Step 2 - NDBI Link
9. Copy and paste this link after the link you added above. If you did not add a link above, add it underneath the ND Biographies Intro template:
*[https://library.ndsu.edu/ndsuarchives/north-dakota-biography-index North Dakota Biography Index] at [https://library.ndsu.edu/ndsuarchives/ North Dakota State University Archives] - Index only; gives references to publications containing information on North Dakotans, living and deceased
Step 3 - Save the Page
10. Preview the page to make sure the links and information look correct.
11. Add to the Summary field, "added biographies links" and save the page.
12. Once you are finished with your section of counties, go back to the Task List and add the date you completed it.
