Purpose
The purpose of this project is to add FamilySearch places for Churches to the town pages.
Task List
New England Town Pages, Part 5
Instructions
- Open the tasklist and go to Part 5
- Place your name next to the town that you would like to edit.
- Click on the link to the town page
- Scroll down to the Church Records section of the page and click on the edit source button next to the heading.
- Go to FamilySearch Places
- In the search bar, type TOWN NAME, Connecticut, but replacing TOWN NAME with the town that you are working on.
- Click on the Places in this Town button next to the town's main search result.
- Click on the Add Filter button under Search Within
- Under Place Type select Churches and Church Parishes
- If there are no results, simply skip to step 19. If there are results proceed to the next step.
- Copy the link at the top of the page
- Go back to the town page where you should be editing the code.
- Find the part of the code that says:
To see the churches in Darien, visit.<br><br>
- Place your cursor in between visit and the period following it.
- Add a space after visit and type: [
- Paste the link you copied after the [ that you just typed
- Add a space after the link and type: FamilySearch Places]
- Click on Show preview to make sure that the page looks correct. If it does, move on to the next step. If it doesn't fix the code before moving on. The church records section should look like this:
- In the summary box, type: Adding FamilySearch places to the church records section
- Save the page
- Place the date you finished the page in the Date column, and move onto the next town.
