Purpose

The purpose of this project is to add FamilySearch places for Churches to the New Hampshire town pages.

New England Town Pages, Part 23 Task List

Instructions

  1. Open the tasklist and go to Part 23


  2. Place your name next to the town that you would like to edit.


  3. Click on the link to the town page


  4. Scroll down to the Church Records section of the page and click on the edit source button next to the heading.

  5. Go to FamilySearch Places


  6. In the search bar, type TOWN NAME, New Hampshire, but replace TOWN NAME with the town that you are working on.

  7. Click on the Places within icon next to the town's main search result.

  8. Click on the Add Filter button under Search Within

  9. Under Place Type type Churches and Church Parishes. NOTE: You will probably need to scroll a little while in the drop down to find that option

  10. Copy the link at the top of the page

  11. Go back to the town page where you should be editing the code.


  12. Find the part of the code that says: 
    To see the churches in TOWN, visit.<br><br>


  13. Place your cursor in between visit and the period following it.


  14. Add a space after visit and type: [


  15. Paste the link you copied after the [ that you just typed


  16. Add a space after the link and type: FamilySearch Places]


    17. Your code after these steps should look like the following: 
    To see the churches in Abbot, visit [https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?includeIsParent=true&primaryText=Abbot,%20Piscataquis,%20Maine,%20United%20States&reqParents=4272451&reqParentsLabel=Town&reqParentsType=376&searchTypeaheadInputText=Search%20Within:Abbot,%20Piscataquis,%20Maine,%20United%20States&reqTypeGroups=3&reqTypeLabel=Churches%20and%20Church%20Parishes FamilySearch Places].

  17. Click on Show preview to make sure that the page looks correct. If it does, move on to the next step. If it doesn't, fix the code before moving on. The church records section should look like this:

  18. In the summary box, type: Adding FamilySearch places to the church records section


  19. Save the page


  20. Place the date you finished the page in the Date column, and move onto the next town.
