Instructions

  1. Open the task list and place your name next to the page that you are going to create.


    2. Name in ecuador task list.png

  2. Click on the link to the English Wiki; this link will allow you to create the page.

  4. Paste it onto the English page that you are editing.


  5. Replace PAGE NAME with the title of the page.


  6. Replace CANTON NAME with the name of the canton.


  7. Replace PROVINCE NAME with the name of the province that your cantón is in.


  8. Open the same cantón page in Spanish Wiki in a separate tab/window


  9. Copy the title of the Spanish Wiki Page and paste it over PAGE NAME IN SPANISH WIKI on the English page that you are creating.


  10. Copy the title of the English Wiki Page and paste it over ENGLISH PAGE NAME in the [[en:]] on the Spanish Wiki Page.


  11. Copy the everything in the code on the Spanish Wiki page in the ==Historia== section before <ref> and go to Google Translate. Paste what you copied in to the translate box. Copy what you get in English and paste it in the ==History== section on the English page before <ref>. Fix anything that seems like wording or grammatical error from the translation.


  12. Copy the article name in the Wikipedia citation on the Spanish wiki page in the ==Historia== section and paste it on the English wiki page over ARTICLE NAME in the ==History== section of the English wiki.


  13. Do the same as the previous step with WEBSITE LINK in the Wikipedia citation.


  14. Also do the same with the DAY MONTH YEAR, but put the date in English on the English page instead of Spanish.


  15. Look at the Spanish page. If there are no records in the ==Registro Civil== section, go back to the English page and delete everything under the ==Civil Registration== heading BUT *There are no online records for the CANTÓN NAME cantón.


  16. If there are records in the ==Registro Civil== section, count the number of record links in the section. Go back to the English page in the ==Civil Registration== section and copy *[CATALOG LINK] - Click on the link to see the records’ availability</nowki>. Paste it below the first one a number of times so that you have the correct amount of record links in the section. Go back to the Spanish page and copy the link to the record, and paste it on the English page over CATALOG LINK. Delete <nowiki>*There are no online records for the CANTÓN NAME cantón.


  17. Follow the same process for the ==Parish Records== section as you did for the ==Civil Registration== section.


  18. If there are records in the ==Censos== section, count the number of record links in the section. Go back to the English page in the ==Census Records== section and copy *[CATALOG LINK] - Click on the link to see the records’ availability. Paste it below the first one a number of times so that you have the correct amount of record links in the section. Go back to the Spanish page and copy the link to the record, and paste it on the English page over CATALOG LINK.


  19. If there are no records in the ==Censos== section, delete the ==Census Records== section in the English records.


  20. Repeat the process for the ==Land Records==, ==Inventories==, and ==Genealogies== sections that you did for the ==Census Records== section.


  21. Go back to the Spanish page and copy the code in the ==Cementerios== section. Paste it in the English page on the ==Cemeteries== section.


  22. Add the correct number of Urban, Rural Parishes, and Hamlets in each section. If any of these sections do not have any places listed, delete the sections.


  23. Click on show preview button to make sure that the page looks good. If nothing looks broken save the page and move on. If something is amiss fix it before saving the page.


  24. Make sure you save the Spanish wiki page as well.


  25. Place the date you finished it on the task list.
