Recording[edit | edit source]
Instructions[edit | edit source]
1. Open the Task List, and navigate to the record type tab at the bottom that you will be working on. There is a "Church Records" tab and a "Civil Registration" tab.
2. Add your name to the "Name" column for the items you are interested in working on.
3. Column D "Wiki Page" indicates the jurisdiction names of the page you will be locating in the FS Wiki. Column D has the names formatted backwards (country first, then lower jurisdictions), but our Wiki pages have lower jurisdictions listed first.
4. Locate the equivalent locality page listed in column D "Wiki Page".
- Searching for the commune (or the smallest jurisdiction name) in the Wiki may bring back better results in the dropdown (you don't need to use diacritics in your search). Just be sure the other jurisdictions match the item in column D "Wiki Page".
- You may also check the Category for the department your locality is in. Such as, searching for Category:Ain, France Communes or for Category:Sarthe, France Communes, and browsing the list of communes listed there.
5. If you cannot find the locality page, make a note in the "Notes" column of the Task List (column F), and continue on to the next locality.
6. Column C "Topic/Heading" indicates what heading the information should go on.
7. Copy the corresponding code in column E "Code to Add", and paste it into the correct topic/heading on the locality page. Be sure all links under that heading are listed in chronological order.
- Note: There may be more than one collection you need to add to a commune page. Check the task list carefully.
- Note: Make sure you are adding church records to the Church Records heading, and civil registration to the Civil Registration heading.
8. Click "Show preview". Be sure your edits look good and nothing is broken.
9. Add the following to the Summary statement of your edit:
Project adding France Catalog links
10. Save the page, and continue on to the next locality or item in the task list.
