Task List

Instructions[edit | edit source]

1. Open the Task List, and add your name to the Name column for the country, state, or parish you want to sign up for.

2. Locate the "Wiki Page" column in the task list. These locations are listed backwards. Instead of listing jurisdictions from smallest to largest like normal Wiki pages, these are listed from largest to smallest. You will be searching the Wiki for the correct country, state, or parish page.

3. Search the Wiki for the country, state, or parish.

  • Example: The name "Brazil, Alagoas" in column C of the task list would be the FS Wiki page titled "Alagoas, Brazil".

4. On the FS Wiki country, state, or parish page, look to see if the heading "Military Records" already exists.

  • If the heading does exist, continue to step 8.
  • If the heading does not exist, continue to step 5.

5. On the FS Wiki country, state, or parish, locate the heading "Online Resources" and click Edit source.

6. Copy the following code:

==Military Records==
===Online Resources===

7. Directly above the "Reading the Records" heading, paste the code you copied in step 6. It should look like the following (with the new Military Records heading in yellow highlight):

Brazil Military Records Heading.png

8. Locate the code in the Code column of the task list for your country or state (column E).

  • NOTE: Make sure you are looking at the correct code for the correct country, state, or parish. There are many lines of code in the task list and it can be easy to mix up which line of code corresponds to which country or state.

9. Copy the code in the Code column for the row you signed up for.

10. Paste the code directly underneath the new Military Records heading you added in step 7.

  • NOTE: If any collections are already listed under the Military Records heading, add your new code so the collections display in chronological order. If your collection code doesn't have any bolded dates at the beginning, add it to the bottom of the list of collections under the Military Records heading.

11. Click "Show preview" to double check that the link you added looks good and doesn't have anything weird about it.

  • If there is something off with the link code, do not save the page. Send Trisha Kougioulis an email or a Yammer.

12. Copy the following statement and paste it into the Summary of your edit:

13. Click "Save page", and continue on to the next locality in the task list.
