- Ahalapam Cinder Field, straddling Deschutes and Lane counties. This cinder field lies on the summit of the Cascade Range just north of the Three Sisters. It was named in 1924 by Professor Edwin T. Hodge of the University of Oregon. Ahalapam is one of the forms of the Indian name Santiam, and was used because the Santiam River probably at one time headed in the region.
