Cemetery Records

Names and surnames of officials, the deceased and sometimes their relatives; dates; Biographical information.

NOTE: These records deal mostly with the organization of cemeteries and some legality concerning cemetery officials and problems concerning each cemetery.
Where are the records?

Archivo Nacional de Historia, section called Hospitales y Cementerios, index; some local hospitals.

Exhumation Records

Burial date, names and surnames of the deceased, vault number and type (special, niche-perpetual or rented); Exhumation date and where they were re-buried.

Burial Records

Names and surnames of the deceased, type of vault, marital status, age, sex, residence before death, cause of death; observations.

NOTA.  Hay un cementerio Judio que contiene unos 150 bovedas, el mas antiguo remontando a 1937.

Inscription Records Contain:

• Names and surnames of the deceased
• death date
• sometimes birth date and place
• relationship to others buried in the same place
• biographical information, and photographs or statues of the deceased.

Tombstones, monuments, statues or mausoleums within each cemetery.

Where are the records?

Oficinas de cementerios (Administraciones) in each cemetery; in Bogota the records from 1877-1927 are in the Archivo del Consejo.
